PON Optical Network
PON( Passive Optical Network ) is a cost-effective fiber-optic solution delivering broadband access to multiple users over a single fiber, including EPON,GPON and XGS-PON/XG-PON. Using unpowered splitters, a PON connects an Optical Line Terminal (OLT) at the provider's headend to Optical Network Units (ONUs) at customer premises. Data is broadcast downstream and transmitted upstream via time slots. Common standards include GPON and EPON, with XGS-PON supporting symmetrical 10 Gbps. As the foundation of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), PON reduces cabling and maintenance costs while enabling high-bandwidth services like streaming, gaming, and cloud computing.
